Meet the Board


Cory Ellenson

First elected 2013, term expires 11/17

Cory Ellenson is a third-generation Glendora resident and graduate of the Glendora Unified School District. Cory attended Sellers, Goddard, and Glendora High School. Cory graduated from the USC Leventhal School of Accounting with a Bachelor of Science degree, and from the UCLA School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree. Prior to entering the workforce full time, Cory worked for Ernst & Young LLP, the California Department of Justice, and the United States Senate. Cory is a practicing tax attorney with four years experience working for the United States Department of the Treasury, and now owns and operates his own law office here in Glendora. Cory has served the community as treasurer of the Kiwanis Club, treasurer of the Friends of Rotary Club, member of the Coordinated School Health Committee, master of the Masonic Lodge, and member of the Education Foundation. Cory is a volunteer with the Barton Reading Program, Community Read-In, and Junior Achievement. One of Cory’s proudest accomplishments is partnering with Council Member Judy Nelson to create a mock city council program for fifth grade students to learn more about local government. Mike Gautreau

Mike Gautreau is a Southern California native. He graduated from West Covina High School , attended the University of California at San Diego and Cal Poly Pomona where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree and Teaching Credential. He has since earned a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership and an Administrative Services Credential. Mike has served as the Principal of Covina High School, and Assistant Principal of Bonita High School in La Verne. His teaching career included 11 years at Sandburg Middle School , as well as part-time assignments at Citrus College and Mt. San Antonio College. He coached high school, college, and club swim teams for 19 years. For the past 30 years he has officiated high school and college football, and currently serves as the Instructional Chairman for the California Football Officials Association. His wife Barbara teaches at Glendora High School , and daughters Nicole and Brooke both attend Glendora schools.


Maura Murabito

Elected 2015, term expires 11/19

Maura Murabito is a longtime educational leader, beginning her career as a teacher at Glendora High School.  Maura's desire to help students connect with college and careers led her to becoming the Director of Career Services at East San Gabriel Valley Regional Occupational Program (ESGVROP).  She continued working for ESGVROP as the Coordinator of Adult Career Training and an Instructional Supervisor.  Currently, Maura is the Superintendent of La Puente ROP.  Maura earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the University of La Verne.  She also holds a California Administrative Credential.  Maura has served on many educational committees and organizations, such as the Rio Hondo College Adult Education Consortium, the University of California Curriculum Integration Institutes, and the Leadership Development Institute.  Maura and her family are very active in the community of Glendora where her and her husband Gene have been longtime residents.  Together, they have two daughters who have attended Glendora schools.  Contact Maura Murabito at: mmurabito@glendora.k12.ca.us


Robin Merkley

Elected 2015, term expires 11/19

Robin Merkley is a graduate of East Texas State University (now Texas A&M Commerce) with a BS in Vocational Home Economics and of Cal Poly Pomona with an MA in Education.  Robin taught full time for two years and was a substitute for about 15 years, 12 of them in GUSD.  Robin has been very active in the community.  She served as PTA president at Williams Elementary, Glendora High School, Whitcomb High School, and Glendora Council and in many other positions.  She was book fair chairman for Goddard PTA for many years.  She has served on the Site Council at Williams and GHS.  She has also served on the Budget, Calendar and Attendance committees, and as chairman of the Bond Oversight Committee.  Robin is serving on the Library Board of Trustees and as president of Glendora Community Coordinating Council.  Robin and her husband, Kendall, have been residents of Glendora for almost 30 years and all five of their children are graduates of Glendora High School.

Chuck Gomer is Vice Chairman for Faculty Affairs in the Department of Pediatrics and Professor of Pediatrics and Radiation Oncology at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.  He is also Director of the Radiation Biology Cancer Research Laboratory at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and he is the 2013-2014 elected President of the USC faculty.  Dr. Gomer received his BS degree in Biology from St. Lawrence University and his Ph.D. in Radiation Biology from SUNY Buffalo.  He also completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.  Chuck and his wife Tricia have two daughters that are graduates of the Glendora Unified School District. Chuck previously served on the SITE Councils at both Sellers Elementary School and Goddard Middle School.  He is currently the Board of Education representative to the PTA Council and a member of the District College Going Culture Committee.  He is also a member and past president of the Glendora Kiwanis Club.  Contact Dr. Gomer at:
